Do you have 2,500 page likes, yet only 250 people are seeing your posts? There are so many businesses that use Facebook, yet people can only see so much content in their feed at a given time. Because of that, Facebook picks and chooses. They have, however, provided a solution. Boost.

WHY? A few dollars can increase the reach of your post by thousands.

HOW? Just click “boost” at the bottom of your existing post. It’s best to “boost” about 24 hours after you published the post. One caveat - you cannot boost your post if it includes an image with greater than 20% of text.

WHO? We recommend boosting to a targeted audience, not simply the fans of your page. Break things down by age, gender, and location!

WHAT? Pick posts that highlight your company, product or service, and have a clear call-to-action. Contests, sales, events, or new employees are all great options. Word of caution: make sure the post has a long life. Promoted posts are often in news feeds for at least 4 days.

Facebook Tip #47:
Think before you type! Don’t simply push out marketing messages and sales pitches from your Facebook page. Post content and visuals that are:

  • Useful
  • Emotional
  • Relatable
  • Interactive
  • Funny
  • Inspirational
  • Providing some incentive
